Marin County Government and City Services

Marin County has 11 incorporated cities and towns, each with its own city or town hall. Everywhere else, including the whole Pacific coast, the County of Marin is the local government. For any emergency, call 911.

Police

Larkspur, Corte Madera and San Anselmo share one police department, the Central Marin Police Authority. The non-emergency line for the San Rafael Police Department is (415) 485-3000. Unincorporated areas are covered by the County of Marin.

County of Marin

County government is based at the Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael. The county runs the services that cover everyone, such as the assessor, the courts, elections and public health. For unincorporated communities it also provides law enforcement, land use planning, the library and code enforcement. Departments are listed on the County of Marin website.

Unincorporated communities and local districts

These communities have no city hall. Several have a special district with an elected board that handles water, fire protection or other local services.
