Where Belvedere is
Belvedere occupies the southwestern corner of the Tiburon Peninsula and shares the 94920 ZIP code with the Town of Tiburon. Its two islands are Belvedere Island and Corinthian Island. Belvedere incorporated as a city in 1896, which makes it one of the oldest municipalities in Marin.
The lagoon and the islands
Belvedere Lagoon lies between the two causeways, Beach Road and San Rafael Avenue, that connect Belvedere Island to Tiburon. Architects designed the lagoon houses in the 1950s and 1960s, and homes on the lagoon have their own boat docks.
Depending on the street, houses look out at San Francisco, Angel Island, Sausalito, the Golden Gate Bridge, Richardson Bay or Mount Tamalpais.
Yacht clubs
Two yacht clubs are in Belvedere: the San Francisco Yacht Club and the Corinthian Yacht Club.
Getting around
Belvedere is almost entirely residential. Shops, restaurants and the ferry landing are a short walk away in downtown Tiburon, and Tiburon Boulevard is the road out to Highway 101.
Schools
Belvedere is in the Reed Union School District, shared with Tiburon, and the Tamalpais Union High School District.

City Hall is at 450 San Rafael Avenue, and the main number is (415) 435-3838. The City of Belvedere website covers planning and building, public works and the police department. For emergencies call 911. Contacts for every town are on the Marin County government and services page.
